A few months ago I had the idea to build a small itx sized, but still powerful portable computer.
And so I did it 😀

There are still some details to be finished, like painting the lid and 3D printing a nice front, but beside that it is complete.

The main idea was to use an old ammo box which I had laying around as the outer shell of the case (don’t even know anymore from where or why I had it).

With some other parts laying around (including the saved AMD CPU) I tried to arrange everything to see if it even would fit together. And luckily it did 😎

There are also some components which didn’t make it in the final version, like the card reader in the bottom or the DVD drive

So then I cut out the air vents with an angle grinder and designed some vent grills for 3D printing.
Also cut and riveted some aluminium pieces together for the mainboard holder and spray painted them black.

glad we learnt CAD in my apprenticeship as a mechanic

Next step was to sand off the existing painting of the ammo box and spray paint it black too.

sanded off ammo box
assembled inside part with mainboard, CPU cooler and GPU
Testing the fit of the power supply
painted case
decided it would look cooler with some label
final assembly
done!
with unfinished lid
